USDA-Authorized Electronic Acreage Reporting
Per FSA Notice CP-782, growers may use an approved third-party provider to submit certified acreage reports digitally. MyAgData is currently the only provider approved to send reports directly through the USDA Clearinghouse.
What this means for FSA offices:
- No more manual data entry from USBs, paper maps, or handwritten notes
- Reports arrive pre-validated against precision data sources like John Deere, Climate, and Case IH
- Cleaner maps and accurate acreage totals
- A compliant digital audit trail for every submission
How MyAgData Helps FSA Staff
MyAgData exists to reduce the workload and time pressure faced by FSA offices, especially during peak reporting seasons.
MyAgData helps offices:
- Receive pre-formatted, USDA-accepted digital reports
- Reduce manual corrections and re-entry
- Eliminate confusion with clear maps and validated acreage totals
- Serve more growers in less time
- Maintain full audit compliance with digital documentation
The Geospatial Review Application (GRA) is a tool that allows USDA Farm Service Agency employees to review precision agriculture planting boundaries submitted by producers. GRA fits into the crop reporting process by enabling employees to determine which farms, tracts, and fields are associated with planted crops based on geospatial data. It provides potential farm, tract, and field matches for planting boundaries submitted through the RMA ACRSI Clearing House, and allows for processing the reported data and pushing it to the ACRSI Work List in the Crop Acreage Reporting System (CARS) for inclusion on FSA-578 forms.
Through the Acreage Crop Reporting Streamlining Initiative (ACRSI), producers can submit precision agriculture planting boundaries by filing acreage reports with either an approved insurance provider or an approved third-party provider. These planting boundaries and crop information are submitted as Geospatial Acreage Report Transmission (GART) files through the RMA ACRSI Clearing House. Producers can elect to have GART file data submitted by their crop insurance agent or an authorized third-party provider included in their CARS acreage report.
No, using GRA to process GART files submitted through the RMA ACRSI Clearing House is not required. However, producers can elect to use their GART file precision agriculture planting boundaries for reporting to FSA. If a producer makes this election, County Office employees should then use GRA to validate that a GART file is available for processing and work with producers to validate the planting boundaries and associated information.
Training materials for GRA can be found on the DAFP Farm Programs Hub SharePoint site at “FPAC-FSA-DAFP – Training Presentations – By Program Area and Program.” Available materials include:
- GRA Training PowerPoint Deck
- GRA Q&A
- GRA National Training Recording
- GRA Demos 1-3
- GRA Demo MISC
- GRA Demo 1-3 Scripts and Demo MISC Script
Currently, GRA does not have a notification process to alert employees when a GART file is available for processing. MyAgData will notify County Office employees of producers submitting a geospatial acreage report containing precision agriculture planting boundaries. County Office employees should validate that a GART file is available for processing by accessing GRA.
When a producer elects to use precision agriculture planting information submitted through the RMA ACRSI Clearing House, County Office employees should:
- Validate that a GART file is available for processing by accessing GRA
- Work with the producer to validate planting boundaries, including:
- Crop acreage
- Associated crop details
- Required farm, tract, and field numbers
- Submit the validated information through GRA to CARS for processing through the ACRSI Work List
- Ensure the information is included on FSA-578
